Boxing Training Device
Spartan is a boxing training device that allows boxers to train both offensively and defensively at the same time. It is designed as an attachment to any hanging heavy bag that will strike back at the boxer in a pattern according to their training preferences.
I worked on Spartan as my MIT senior design capstone (2.009) as part of a 16 person team. We worked on Spartan during a 10 week semester throughout the pandemic, going through the product development process from need-finding all the way to an alpha prototype and business plan. Our project culminated in a final semi-virtual product launch, which can be viewed here.
As part of the project, I conducted many user interviews, created and presented design review material, and managed team dynamics as the team “Yoda.” My technical contributions ranged from creating and testing “strike” prototypes to eventually working on the final enclosure, thermal management, and foam strike bar integration.
